“Katran” was delivered to the customer at “IMDS – 2017”

On June 30, 2017, the service boat “Katran”, built by JSC “R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau” and designed by JSC “CMB “Almaz”,  was delivered to the customer  - JSC “Shiprepairing center “Zvezdochka” at the International Maritime Defence Show. This is a first project, implemented by Bureau from Nizhny Novgorod within  5 years.

“Katran” isageneralservicehigh-speedhigh-maneuverableboatofwideapplication. It is designed to support the carrier-vessel, which is at anchorage. The boat is capable to achieve the speed up to the 32 knots and board 10 passengers. It is fitted with the equipment for ensuring of diving work process. What is more, there are implemented the technical solutions in the construction, which provide its safe launch and lifting with the crew to the board of the carrier-vessel at the sea disturbance of up to 4 points. Hydrofoil Design Bureau plans to build the series of such boats.

The representatives of the customer, government of Nizhny Novgorod region and the Head of the Public Reception office in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Committee on defence of State Duma of the Russian Federation participated at the ceremonial signing of Delivery-Acceptance Act.

Nikolay Aleksandrovich Starchenko, the head of the department of military-industrial complex of the Ministry of industry, trade and entrepreneurship of Nizhny Novgorod region noted that: “This event is very important for industry of our region, because in the coming years it may affect the determination of the development shape of all civil shipbuilding in Nizhny Novgorod region and Russia. We created all conditions for the building of vessels of support fleet, there are people, production capacity and a great desire to build, what is the most important.

“The boat is great, most importantly, today was laid the beginning of cooperation of Nizhny Novgorod Industrialists with direct customers. I would like to wish the rest of enterprises of shipbuilding industry of our region to be bolder and more actively use the possibilities of such sites as “IMDS – 2017” in order to promote their products. I am convinced that “R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau” is really able to make the transport of the future, including ekranoplanes for the use in extreme Arctic environment”, - said Sergey Valerievich Vasiliev, the Head of the Public Reception office in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Committee on defence of State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“This joint project became the first new project, given to the customer since the collapse of the Soviet Union. This is an important step  on the path of renewal of our enterprise. The last five years can be called the years of the Renaissance of Hydrofoil Design Bureau after the forgetting of 90s. Today we are not only reviving the past achievements of the design bureau, but also create entirely new projects. “Katran” is the first vessel, built in our production after its complete modernization. Despite of the fact that is was made on the documentation of other designer, its building allowed us to work out many technological processes and skills of production and installation of various vessel systems. It was necessary to successfully implement projects of any complexity in the future”, - commented Sergey Gennadievich Dementiev, the General Director of JSC “R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau”.

The highlight of the event of the presentation of the bottle neck of champagne from the hands of its godmother of “Katran” Rosina Stanislavovna Kucherova, the Deputy Head of the department of projects’ support of JSC “R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau” to Ilintsev Aleksandr Nikolaevich, the Deputy General Director – Director of the Center of propulsion systems of JSC “Shiprepairing Center “Zvezdochka”. According to the long tradition, this bottle was broken on the vessel’s board during its  launching on April 6, 2017. The representative of the customer personally tested its in the Gulf of Finland, and he was satisfied with its technical characteristics and comfort for the passenger and crew.
