“R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod) plans to finish the
technical design of ekranoplane “Chaika-2” (A-050-742d) in 2017. The Director
for innovative development, marketing and foreign trade if Hydrofoil Design
Bureau told reporters about this on February 10, 2017.
According
to him, after the finishing of technical design, the company together with its
strategic partners and coinvestors will consider the beginning of building of
the first sample of ekranoplane. Sergey Korolev noted that one of the main
partners is company from Saint-Petersburg “Radar MMS”, which specializes in
design of navigation equipment for sea passenger ekranoplane “Chaika-2”.
Answering
the question about the beginning of serial building of ekranoplane, Korolev
noted that it will be possible to talk about it, when the demand for this
product will be clear.
Today
Hydrofoil Design Bureau carries out the negotiation for this transport with our
potential partenrs, including Gazprom, Rosneft and Roscosmos. In addition to
this, we work on the issue of the use of this ekranoplane near the cosmodrome
“Vostochny” together with the company “Roscosmos”, - said Sergey Korolev.

He
also added that Hydrofoil Design Bureau negotiates for this project with the
potential customers from abroad, including countries from South-East Asia and
Persian Gulf.
The
company’s representative did not answer the question than Hydrofoil Design
Bureau can start the building of the first headmost sample, stressing that this
requires funds, but this issue in not yet resolved.
“The
money can come in three ways: if the building in invented by the state, it the
shareholders invest their own money or if we find co-investors”, - said Mr.
Korolev.
He
also noted that by the completion of the technical design, there will be
adjusted and re-collected lists of purchased materials, then it will be kmown
the final price of the ekrnaoplane, the 100% building of which is assumed from
national components. Mt.Korolev stressed that the price of one unit of this
transport will be comparable to the price of the aircraft IL-114 or IL-18.
