The ekranoplane of new generation will be designed in Nizhny Nov

The ekranoplane of new generation “Chaika-2” will be designed in Nizhny Novgorod by 2020. In frame of celebration of the centenary of the birth of the outstanding Soviet designer Rostislav Alexeev, his followers presented their unique development.

The modern ekranoplane can be operated even in the harshest environment. As General designer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “R.E.Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau” George Antsev said during the presentation, it can be used for transportation of passengers as well as cargo. In addition to this, one of his appointments is carrying out specialized tasks of Emergencies Ministry and other first responders.

“Chaika-2” is capable to speed up to 500 kilometers per hour, it is designed for 110 passengers. It can be used in the Arctic, Northern latitudes, the Baltic, White and Barents Seas, the Arctic ocean, Sakhalin and Kamchatka. It is a generalized facilities that allows to carry out many tasks, including in the firsl of medicine, intelligence, struggle against violations, search and rescue operations”, said Antsev.

Also General designer noted that currently there are carrying out the design, conduced aerodynamic trials of the development, as well as trial in hydrochannel.  The next step will be the building of the prototype of ekranoplane. After that they will test it at the Gorky sea.

“The funding  goes through our own resources, a number of technologies  are paid by the government in the framework of the Federal target program. Now our task is to complete the aerodynamics and design of the aircraft, we already have the propulsion plant”, - said Antsev.

During the presentation of the model, there was already carried out the exhibition of works, made by the students of the art school No. 3, dedicated to Rostislav Alexeev. The event ended with a festive concert.
